what characteristics do scientists use to classify stars
Scientists use the characteristic: temperature, size, color, and brightness to classify the stars. They use the Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram to classify the stars with those characteristics. They use the scatter graph to show the relationship between stars and the ratio to compare stars from main point. The luminosity scale that is on the left shows how much energy a star can take in a second. On the bottom is the temperature scale measured in Kelvins. The top left is the brightest/hottest, the top right would be the coldest/brightest, the bottom left is dim but hot, and the bottom right is dim but cold.
