What are planetary satellites?
A planetary satellite is an space object that revolves around a planet. They are made mostly out of rock. Some examples of planetary satellites are asteroids, comet, and moons etc.
ASTEROIDS
Asteroids are large rocks that roam around galaxies. They have been found between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Asteroids hit planets sometimes when their elliptical orbits around the sun is disrupted. Their sizes vary from as small as a pebble to HUGE.
COMETS
Comets are bodies of composites of a ice and dust. They are leftover chunks from planets. Comets are usually visible when it orbits close to the sun, but then it disappears for 1000 years.
MOONS
Moons are objects that revolve around planets. Scientists believe moons are broken-off pieces of the planets they orbit. All planets in our solar system have moons except Mercury and Venus. Moons have 8 phases due to the sun's reflection.
